The
Living Dead Girl in August
26
July 2007
The
Living Dead Girl, made in 1982, has the reputation
of being one of legendary French horror director
Jean Rollin's most violent and non-experimental
films, the perfect introduction for horror fans
who have yet to discover the twisted delights of
Rollin's work. The setup in straightforward enough.
A toxic chemical spill revives the corpse of heiress
Catherine, who develops an overpowering thirst for
blood, which her childhood friend Hélène
helps her procure by providing her with a string
of fresh victims.
Starring
Francoise Blanchard as Catherine (a zombified Paris
Hilton lookalike) and cult movie star and Borowczyk's
muse, Marina Pierro as Hélène, the
film finds Rollin in his favourite territory, one
populated by violent lesbian vampires, but prompting
performances from his cast that are better than
a casual read of the above synopsis might suggest.
Already
available on UK DVD from Redemption and apparently
one of their best sellers, the company have announced
a re-release for August in its full uncut form for
the first time ever in the UK, with a full 4 minutes
of previously cut footage restored. The disc will
also feature the following extras:
