Hurt in September
24 August 2007
With
torture porn the buzz phrase of the American horror
industry and serial killer movies still very much
in vogue, Redemption have announced the September
release of Hurt, a little-seen
but a disquieting addition to the serial killer
sub-genre in a style evocative of John McNaughton's
Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer.
Michael
and his two friends get young women to make pornographic
films for them and then kill them on camera. The
trio become intoxicated by the sense of power of
deciding who lives and who dies and start to view
their 'work' as having artistic validity. Wanting
recognition for their work, they make contact with
an ambitious TV reporter and give him the tapes.
As the death scenes play, Michael's interview overlays
the harrowing imagery, drawing you deep into the
mind of a serial killer...
The
2006 Hurt is the second feature directed
by Scott A. Martin, a former actor who appeared
in films such as High Fidelity
and The Watcher and makes a virtue
of its largely unknown cast, which apparently adds
to the documentary feel.
Hurt
will be released by
Salvation Films under the Redemption banner
on 24th September 2007 at the RRP of £12.99.
