Thirtysomething photographer David has been happily dating Lisa for some time. Their relationship is loving and stable, but increasingly David finds himself dreaming of tempestuous free spirit Nina, who represents everything his current girlfriend is not. Adding to the problem is that Nina has a boyfriend of her own...
Col Spector's debut feature may sound a little fluffy in summary, but it's lifted above the romantic comedy-drama norm by a sharp script, assured handling and a trio of fine performances at its core. David is played by Stephen Mangar of Festival and The Green Wing, Lisa by Susan Lynch of Enduring Love and Bodies, while Nina marks another fine turn by Lisa Belmont, so extraordinary in Tim Roth's The War Game.
Someone Else (2006) will be released on UK DVD on 28th January 2008 by Soda Pictures at the RRP of £15.99. The anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen picture and Dolby 5.1 surround soundtrack will be joined by the following extra features:
- New Year's Eve, short film starring Keira Knightley and Stephen Mangan, directed by Col Spector;
- Commentary by Col Spector and Stephen Mangan;
- Theatrical trailer;
- The making of Someone Else.
