The Edge of Heaven in June

The lives and destinies of six characters are bound together by fate in this gripping and moving film German Turkish filmmaker Fatih Akin, he of the superb Head On/Gegen die Wand (2004) and Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul (2005). The story begins as widower Ali takes prostitute Yeter as his girlfriend, setting in motion a chain of events that will link three families across different cultures, countries and generations. Skillfully constructed and impressively played by an outstanding cast, The Edge of Heaven (Auf der anderen Seite) is an ambitious and compelling tale of tragedy, betrayal, persecution and redemption.

The Edge of Heaven has is to be released on UK DVD by Artificial Eye on 9th June 2008 at the RRP of £19.99. The DVD will feature and anamorphic widescreen picture, Dolby 2.0 stereo and Dolby 5.1 surround soundtracks and the following extra features:

  • Fatih Akin: Diary of a Film Traveller (57:02).
