Regarded by his neighbours as a harmless misfit, Josie has spent all his adult life as the caretaker of a crumbling petrol station on the outskirts of a small town in the mid-west of Ireland. He is limited, lonely, yet relentlessly optimistic and, in his own peculiar way, happy. Garage is the story of Josie’s hapless search for intimacy over the course of a summer which sees his life changed forever.
Described by The Observer as "a gem of a film" and The Times as a "beautifully-acted, tragicomic character study," Garage won the C.I.C.A.E. Award at Cannes and landed four of the top prizes at this year's Irish Film and Television Awards, landing Best Film, Best Director for Leonard Abrahamson, Best Screenplay for Mark O'Halloran and Best Actor in a Lead Role in a Feature Film for

Garage is to be released on UK DVD on 30th June 2008 by Soda Pictures at the RRP of £15.99. No news on the aspect ratio or sound yet, but the disk will feature a director's commentary. |
